About his work
The ideas for Gäthje's abstract oil paintings were inspired by existing works of art, sketches and photographs. Building up and knocking down the idea for a painting is a reciprocal process, in which visible and invisible aspects of the real world become part of the art world. His paintings draw the viewer by their enticing openness and complex depths and introduce him to a mysterious way of being different. Christian Gäthje's leitmotiv is "Think rich, share wealth, be rich".
