The Signet Wohnmöbel GmbH & Co. KG was founded in 1990 in Hochstadt am Main. Since then individual functional furniture has been successfully developed and produced. The two founders, Carola and Gerald Klimke, have always focused on timeless design, high functionality and sustainability: the trademarks are the so-called "moving forms". Raw materials from regional, controlled stocks are used and the pollutant-free processing takes place exclusively in Germany: According to the strict quality guidelines of the German Furniture Quality Association (awarded the "Golden M" quality mark). From a two-man business has developed a medium-sized family business with about 70 employees and a product range covering all aspects of seating, reclining, sleeping, living and contract furniture. Signet is one of the leading German suppliers of high-quality sofa beds.
In their search for a suitable succession arrangement the owners of Signet Wohnmöbel turned to Concentro Management AG: Concentro advised the Klimke couple in the preparation and implementation of the transaction. The Klimke couple received legal advice from SATELL Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater.
Founder Gerald Klimke explains the reasons for choosing the succession constellation: "A sense of responsibility has always been a central corporate value for my wife and myself. If we now pass on our life's work after 30 years, we would like to do justice above all to our employees, customers and suppliers. We are very pleased to have found partners with whom we have the good feeling that the company will be continued in our interest." His successor Thomas Schlosser has already held numerous management positions at various furniture manufacturers and is regarded as a specialist for high-quality furniture. He says: "Signet is a special company and I am delighted to be the successor to Mr. and Mrs. Klimke".
"Since its foundation, Signet has consistently gone its own way and has concentrated on production in Germany and sales through local specialist dealers - this is the core of Signet's success and the basis for the good positioning of the design furniture manufacturer," summarises Christian Futterlieb, Managing Director at VR Equitypartner.
Daniel Schmidt, Director at VR Equitypartner, outlines the future strategy for Signet: "We want to continue Signet's successful path together with Thomas Schlosser and at the same time accelerate growth with specialist dealers, in the contract sector and with additional partners. Selective geographical expansion into neighbouring foreign markets is also being considered."
Andreas Jaburg and Manuel Giese, Principal and Partner of Concentro Management AG, add: "We are pleased to have found a successor in the consortium Thomas Schlosser and VR Equitypartner, who will continue the life's work of the couple Klimke in their interest".
